Febrero - February

Due to the inclement weather we were not able to complete everything I had planned for the month of January. My plan is to complete the previous lessons the first week of this month and start with all new lessons the second week of February

8th grade:
We will work on the preposition’s lesson that we were unable to complete last week. Students got a study guide on Monday January 31st.

Quiz on Thursday 2-3. Due to the NAEP testing the quiz is re-scheduled to Monday February 7th. .

Students will learn how possessive adjectives work I will dictate an English phases and students will indicate the correct Spanish possessive adjective. We will play tic-tac-toe as the students give the correct answers Students will complete a work sheet with Spanish sentences.

In addition, students will learn how to use the irregular verbs To Be and To Have. Students will have to memorize the verbs and the rules. We will do numerous activities to translate sentences so students feel comfortable with the usage of the verb.

Tentative date for a Quiz on Thursday 2-24

Students will continue to work on their cultural project for Famous Hispanic Figures. I have added extra sessions in the computer lab so students would be able to complete their reports. DUE DATE February 25th

7th grade: Students will learn and use the correct pronunciation in Spanish about computations in Spanish. Students will complete a math puzzle and create four addition problems and four subtraction problems. Then the students write each problem using their Spanish words. Students will also practice their phone numbers.

In addition, students will learn how to express commands and other expressions. They will respond to different questions. Students will randomly write Spanish Expressions on bingo cards. We will scramble the flashcards and read one expressions, Students will cover the appropriate word.

Oral quiz on Thursday 2-25

Students will work on a cultural report in regards to Authentic Latin American Food. This project will be done in its entirety at the school. STUDENTS DO NOT NEED TO BRING ANY COOKED FOOD.

6th grade: Students will learn the rules in how to form singular and plural names in Spanish including the ending. Students will complete a word sheet name More than One. We will play spelling bee so students can tell the plural of a given singular noun or the singular of a given plural noun. In addition, students will learn the rules for forming plural of nouns. They will complete a word sheet. I will dictate singular names and student will write the letter or letter to form the plural. We will play hang man so students can spell Spanish plural names.

Furthemore, students will learn different facts about the culture and location of Latin American countries.They will create a report. This work will be done in school


In addition, students will learn additional vocabulary and create a work sheet of things that belong or are the same categories, such as three numbers and one cat. The answer will be El gato no vale porque no es un numero. The cat doesn’t belong because it is not a number


5th gadre: We will complete our previous lesson in regards to shapes, colors and sizes.

Oral quiz on Monday 2-7. Students just need to remember cuadrado, rectangulo, circulo, ovalo and estrella. Grande y pequeno and the colors in Spanish.

Staring the second week of February students will learn and use the correct pronunciation in Spanish about household items such as restrooms, glass, towel, etc. Students will complete a crossword puzzle, and describe how many bedrooms they have in their house, the color of their bathrooms, etc.

4th grade: Due to the inclement weather we need two weeks to work in our lesson about foods. Students will create a menu for their own restaurant in the target language.

Students will learn and use the correct pronunciation in Spanish of classrooms words such as chair, table, door, pen, window, eraser and pencil. Students will complete a work sheet and write the words in English and in Spanish.

3rd grade: Students will continue to learn and use the correct pronunciation in Spanish about clothing items such as shirt, pants, dress, socks, shoes and cap. Students will complete a crossword puzzle, answer questions about what they are wearing and create a mannequin that shows and describes the clothes that they choose.

Students will learn and use the correct pronunciation in Spanish about family members. To learn the difference between mother (madre) and mom (mama) and father (padre) and dad (papa). Students will complete a work sheet and write the words in English and in Spanish.

2nd grade: Students will finish their work sheet to and they will draw a picture of an imaginary neighborhood. They will draw and labeled places that they have learned in this unit. They will color their pictures

In addition, the students will learn and use the correct pronunciation in Spanish about foods. Students will complete a work sheet and write the words in English and in Spanish.

Enero - January

The following is a synopsis of what the students will be learning this month.

8th grade: Students will learn how Spanish verbs end in either –ar –er or –ir. This form of verb is called infinitive. The ending that we will work on is the “ir” verbs .Describir means to describe, partir means to leave, dividir means to divide. When the students use the verb in a sentence, verbs are usually conjugated with the proper ending. The ending indicates de subject pronoun.

Quiz on Friday January 7th "er" verbs defintions. Translate verbs from English into Spanish. (Word Bank) Due to the inclement weather students will have the quiz on Monday 1-10

Quarterly assessment test on Thursday 1-13. Conjugate and translate “ar, er and ir” verbs.

In addition, students will learn how prepositions are used in Spanish. They have the same usage as in English they connect a noun (or pronoun) to something else in a sentence. Students will write the English translation of each preposition by the Spanish words. The prepositions that the students will learn are: in front of, far, under, over, in, bear, with, between, in back or behind and without.

Students will have a quiz on Thursday January 27th. Due to the inclement weather the students will have this quiz on Friday February 4th

We will also start working on a cultural project about Notable Spanish People. This project will continue into the month of February

6th grade: Students will learn the proper usage of subject pronouns including the three forms of you as “tu” “usted” and “ustedes”. Students will learn the correct order of usage.

Quiz on Friday January 7th on the usage of tu and usted. Study guide was done at school between Monday January 3rd and Thursday January 6th, Due to the inclement weather students will have the quiz on Monday 1-10

In addition, students will learn the proper usage of all subject pronouns. I = Yo, You = TĂș (informal) You = Usted (formal), He – El, She = Ella, We = Nosotros (masculine) and Nosotras (feminine), You all = ustedes, They = ellos (masculine) and ellas (feminine). Students will learn the correct order of usage.

5th grade: Students will learn and use the correct pronunciation in Spanish about family members such as mother, father, grandmother, cousins, aunts and uncles. Students will complete a puzzle with the family words then will write the English translation for the words. In addition they will complete sentences that explain family members such as: The father of my father is my ….. (Grandfather) (Abuelo)

In addition, the students will be learning about sizes, shapes and colors. They will do a word search. They will also combine these new words with the color words that they had learned previously to create sentences and translate a work sheet.

4th grade: The students will learn and use the correct pronunciation in Spanish of food items such as milk, cheese, bread, chicken etc. In addition students will learn the names of food that can be found in a restaurant. They will do a word search finding items that can be found in a place setting.

3rd grade: The students will learn and use the correct pronunciation in Spanish about clothing items such as shirt, pants, dress, socks, shoes and cap. Students will complete a crossword puzzle, answer questions about what they are wearing and create a mannequin that shows and describes the clothes that they chose.

2nd grade: The students will learn and use the correct pronunciation in Spanish about places to go. Students will complete a work sheet to and they will draw a picture of an imaginary neighborhood. They will draw and labeled places that they have learned in this unit. They will color their pictures.

As a cultural project, with all the classes, we are going to be researching currencies for Latin American countries.
