2nd grade: Students will learn and use the correct pronunciation in Spanish for clothing items such as hat, pants, dresses, shirts, socks and shoes. They will use paper mannequins and label their clothing items. Students will also describe the clothing that they are wearing “white shirt – camisa blanca”
3rd grade: Students will learn and use the correct pronunciation in Spanish for items around the house such as sofa, kitchen, bed, lamp, telephone, television and living room. Students will complete a work sheet to unscramble the Spanish words.
4th grade: Students will learn and use the correct pronunciation in Spanish for animals such as bear, frog, horse, cow, butterfly, dinosaur, pig, sheep, etc. Students will create sentences describing the animals.
5th grade: Students will learn and use the correct pronunciation in Spanish for weather words such as rain, snow, clouds, sky etc. In addition, the will learn about weather conditions such as It is raining, snowing, windy etc.
Students will have a quiz on 11-19. They will receive a study guide on Monday 11-15.
6th grade: Students will do numerous activities in a magazine called ¿Que tal?. This is a monthly publication by Scholastic. It is written in Spanish and it contains articles such as the smallest dragon on the world, how La Merce is celebrated in Barcelona España, about Lourdes Leon and her family, and soccer (futbol) teams from España. These articles will help the students to translate sentences, learn about other cultures and to feel more comfortable about their Spanish pronunciation.
7th grade: Students will learn how to tell time using regular and military time and use the correct pronunciation. In Spanish we have manaña, mediodia, tarde y noche. Students will learn the times to identity these periods. “7:30am = Siete y treinta de la manaña”

8th grade: Students will learn the proper usage of subject pronouns including the three forms of you as “tu” “usted” and “ustedes”. Students will learn the correct order of usage.

Octubre - October
2nd grade: Students will learn and use the correct pronunciation in Spanish about classroom items such as book, chairs, pencils etc. Students will draw a picture of their classroom and label the items in Spanish.
3rd grade: Students learn the names of places in our community such as park library, store and use the correct pronunciation in Spanish. Students will do a word search to practice their knowledge
4th grade: Students will learn the days in Spanish using the proper Spanish format (the week starts on a Monday). They will also learn yesterday today and tomorrow and will be doing exercises to be able to identify the days in the correct progression
5th grade: Students will learn the correct pronunciation for the months of the year and be able to write out complete Spanish dates such as January 13 – Trece de enero.Quiz on October 15th. Correct spelling of months of the years in Spanish. Complete dates using the proper format in Spanish as the example above. I will provide the students with a sheet with the numbers that will have correct spelling for them.
In addition, Students will learn the difference between “tu” and” usted”. Both of these words mean the subject pronoun you. Students will study when to use each form.
Quiz on Friday October 29th. Students will receive a study guide on Monday October 25th
6th grade: Students will learn the rules for definite and indefinite articles in Spanish since these have gender and the form changes for singular and plural. They will learn how to apply the correct article to the noun.
Quiz on October 8th – Students will get a study guide on Monday October 4th and they will have a quiz on Friday October 8th in regards to the articles.
Students will review basic questions such as ¿Como te llamas? and ¿como estas? (What is your name? and How are you?) They will learn other questions such as Where do you live?, What is your phone number?, How old are you? Do you have any brothers or sisters? They will work on the correct pronunciation of the questions and to answer them in Spanish.
There will be an oral quiz on Thursday October 28th. The sheet that they have been using in class to do the practice will be the student’s study guide.
7th grade: Students will learn the proper gender of nouns and the rules to identify the gender. They will also learn the exceptions to the rules. They will learn about the singular and plural rules. In addition, students will work with a teammate to create a list of nouns and identify the meaning, gender and create the singular and plural form.Quiz on October 8th Gender and plurals

There are some exceptions to these rules and the students will learn those them so they are able to use the appropriate format.
Students will have a written test about adjectives on Friday October 22nd. Students will work on a study guide on Friday October 15th and Monday October 18th.
